All of the rules contained herein apply equally to all Members such as – staff, members, subscribers and visitors alike.
Terms and Definition
Gym - refers to The Basement Hoboken, its staff, employees, sub-contractors, agents and representatives.
Facilities - refer to the gym equipment, showers, changing rooms and fitness studios where applicable.
Members – refer to all Members excluding The Basement staff and Personal Trainers
Subscribers – refer to clients who subscribed to The Basement Hoboken Subscription
Subscription – refer to the subscription package a subscriber purchases (4 Pack, 8 Pack or 12 Pack)
Rules
Subscribers and of the gym are bound, as a condition of subscription, to comply with the rules set out below. This is to ensure that the facilities are properly and safely used and that all subscribers have full advantage of them without interfering with others.
Refusal or continual non-compliance with these Rules may result in the Member being ejected from the premises and termination of Subscription if applicable.
The Basement Hoboken reserves the right to make changes to the Gym Rules from time to time, and any changes will be effective immediately. Copies of these Rules can be obtained from reception or from The Basement Hoboken website at www.thebasementhoboken.com
1. ADVANCED BOOKING
All Members are required to have advanced booking by The Basement Hoboken’s online scheduling website at https://TheBasementHoboken.as.me/. Failure to book a schedule will not give the client an access to the gym.
2. DRESS CODE
All Members are expected to wear suitable attire at all times while using Gym facilities. The Basement Hoboken considers suitable attire to be:
- T-shirt or Vest;
- Shorts or Trousers suitable for training;
- Closed shoes suitable for training (with exceptions for certain class activities)
The following is NOT acceptable:
- Open shoes or bare feet, unless partaking in certain classes
- No t-shirt / lack of suitable clothing
- Jeans or other inappropriate trousers
All Members should use suitable measures to maintain basic standards of hygiene, such as using deodorant, showering if needed, and wearing clean gym attire while training.
3. CONDUCT
- All Subscribers and Visitors must conduct themselves in a respectful manner while using Gym facilities. Any Member who acts in an intimidating, abusive, violent, inappropriate or disrespectful manner may be ejected from the Gym, and Subscribers may have their Subscription terminated with no refund of fees that are already paid.
- All Members must place all weights and equipment correctly after use, and equipment and machines should be wiped down.
- Any Members who are unsure of how to use a piece of equipment should seek instruction before doing so. The Basement Hoboken will not take any responsibility when a member gets injured from incorrect use of equipment. If any equipment is found to be faulty or malfunctioning, please report this to The Basement Hoboken staff or trainers immediately.
- All Members must comply with any reasonable request from The Basement Hoboken staff in relation to health and safety, and to ensure smooth running of the Gym.
- No Member may bring external personal trainers to the Gym or act as a personal trainer, paid or otherwise. The Basement Hoboken’s Personal Trainers have been confirmed as holding the required certification and insurance, and as such are the only trainers permitted to work in the Gym. They are independent professionals, and not employees or agents of The Basement Hoboken.
Photography & Video
- Members must not take photographs or video recordings in restricted areas i.e., Changing rooms or toilet
- Please be respectful of other peoples’ privacy when using personal technology in the Gym.
- Members must get prior permission from all those who will appear in any photograph taken or video footage made while in Gym.
- The Basement Hoboken reserves the right to cancel a Subscriber(s)’ subscription or ask a Visitor(s) to leave the premises if personal device is inappropriately used.
- While photography/videography is permitted in the Gym, Members cannot section off areas and must adhere to the points above.
- Any photography/videography must be self-administered, and another party filming would be deemed as a professional shoot.
- Any professional shoot requests must be made to the Gym.
4. FACILITIES
- All Members must exit the premises no later than the Gym closing time.
- No food or drink should be consumed in the Gym, other than drinks in sealable containers. Alcohol and illegal substances are prohibited from being brought into and/or consumed on the premises; any Member under the influence of alcohol or illegal substances may be ejected from the Gym. Smoking and vaping are prohibited on Gym premises at all times.
- Water and towels are available at no extra cost.
- Bringing of any pets inside the facility is prohibited.
5. PROGRAMS & CLASSES
- The Basement Hoboken time schedules, instructors and classes are subject to change at any time. The Basement Hoboken will provide notice when a class is unable to take place for any reason.
- Due to limited space, classes of The Basement Hoboken are limited in capacity. Clients are recommended to book online in advance at least 3 days before the class to ensure their slot. A member must cancel a class booking at least one hour in advance of the class to avoid receiving bad remarks. If the class begins at fully capacity, a reschedule shall be done.
- Participants booked into class should arrive in the Gym at least 5 minutes before class start time, to avoid delay and in respect to other participants. Discipline is something that we would also want our participants to learn.
6. LOST PROPERTY
The Basement Hoboken takes no responsibility for loss, theft or damage for any items brought into the Gym, unless The Basement Hoboken is shown to have been negligent. The Basement Hoboken strongly recommends Members to avoid bringing valuable items to the Gym where at all possible.
8. GENERAL HEALTH AND SAFETY
If any Member has concerns in relation to health and safety, they must report the issue to The Basement Hoboken staff immediately.
At The Basement Hoboken, it is our aim to create a safe and welcoming environment for everyone. If any Member feels they have been a victim of harassment or encountered any form of abuse while in our Gyms they should speak to a member of the gym management team immediately so we can take corresponding action.
